Spring Break

  • Monday, April 4th Watershed Management students will learn about how water flows across the land and drains into common bodies of water, whether a stream, river, lake, or ocean. Additionally, students participate in fun activities to learn about water quality and management. 

  • Tuesday, April 5th – Field-trip to McDaniel Farm – theme “Cherokee People” - students will explore Cherokee culture as they participate in a nature walk and learn about the many uses of plants. They will also listen to stories from the Cherokee culture as they build their own piece of pottery. 

  • Wednesday 4/6 & Thursday, 4/7 – Gardening – students will plant herbs, fruits and vegetables in GPA’s garden. Students should wear casual clothes / shoes they may get dirty in. 

  • Friday, April 8th – Field-trip to Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center – theme: Living Trees. Look whose living in the trees. Students will uncover fascinating facts about what types of animals actually live in the trees, what kinds of animal clues to look and listen for in the forest and illustrate how people use trees for their homes as well. This exhibit challenges students to play inside the constructed tree houses while viewing tree houses from around the world, playing computerized games that teach how to harvest trees without harming wildlife, peeking into the hidden tree homes of animals and much more.
